HISTORY

The Crenshaw School is a private college preparatory school, which was founded in 1999 by Brenda Crenshaw. In 1997, it started as a private tutoring company. Mrs. Crenshaw privately tutored children who were athletes on the national level and children who were entertainers appearing in feature productions. She discovered these students had a difficult time maintaining attendance policies and homework requirements while in their regular school. Realizing that schools were not set up to meet the needs of these children and could not for various reasons, made her venture out to create a program that would meet all the academic and scheduling needs. Vowing not to have children's dreams be placed on hold because of unbending school programs, The Crenshaw School was formed.

In 1999, the tutoring company was closed and The Crenshaw School was formed.  The school quickly became accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Mrs. Crenshaw also developed a Private Instruction Division of The Crenshaw School to include additional students who are schooled off campus.  Past and current private students of hers include well-known actors, musicians, and athletes such as Justin Timberlake and Lance Bass of N'Sync; Mandy Moore, film and vocalist; Ty Tryon, PGA golfer; Melanie Sinclair, international elite gymnast; Brittany Snow, American Dreams and Hairspray; and Taylor Ball, Still Standing.

This has led to an amazing program that not only met the needs of her target students, but also resulted in a school with a learning environment that benefits all children. Students who have never been successful in the large classroom setting have soared to excellence in this program.
