Monitor this web page for The
Crenshaw School information and
event cancellations.
Information will be updated as
quickly as possible. The
school will also post important
information with local radio
stations - AM540 and AM580, and with
local TV stations - Channels 2, 6,
and 9.
If
Orange County Public Schools ("OCPS")
announces that public schools will
be closed, The Crenshaw School
will follow the lead of OCPS on
closing. The date for reopening The
Crenshaw School, however, may be
different than that of the public
schools, depending on the
circumstances. We will
communicate plans for closing and
reopening dates with our families
through email, website, telephone
recording, and public service
announcements on local radio and TV.
Weather Policy
As is often the case during the
hurricane season, the direction of a
storm approaching Central Florida is
difficult to predict and advisories
can change hourly. Since we
cannot always determine clearly
during school hours what the weather
situation will be the next day, the
following directions are applicable
any time we have threatening weather
conditions.
-
Tune in to one of the radio or
TV stations to learn if The
Crenshaw School will be closed.
If the OCPS close, The Crenshaw
School will be closed also.
-
If you live in a flood area and
are experiencing significant
winds and/or heavy rain, you
should make a personal decision
regarding bringing your child to
school. You do not need to call
the school. Just send a note the
next day to inform the teacher
of your decision. Your child
will be excused.
-
When to evacuate during a storm
is also a personal decision.
Should you make that decision
for your family and school is
not closed, your child will be
excused.
-
If weather conditions are
unpredictable or develop while
your child is at school, please
stay in touch with the weather
stations in case we must close
early. In such circumstances, we
will activate the phone
committee to begin calling
parents. Again, should you be
concerned about getting to your
home later in the day, you may
pick up your child early.
-
In the event of an early
dismissal or school closing,
after-school activities will be
canceled.
-
Finally, please know that if we
ever have to close school early,
your child will always be taken
care of by teachers and staff
until you are able to arrive.
In
addition,
if
power
permits:
The
voicemail
on
the
school number (407-876-9122) will
also be changed and updated as
information is available.
Announcements will also be updated
utilizing the Crenshaw Web
site.
NOTE: Please know that the safety of
our students, families, and faculty
are our utmost concern and we will
take every precaution necessary for
their safety. Decisions for school
closure are not made easily as there
are many factors that must weigh
into that decision. All decisions
are made with the best interest of
our students as a priority.
